Fresh caught

There is NOTHING like fresh-caught salmon for dinner. Chris and Tristen joined Jim and Jeff for the Everett Derby. Thank you, Jim!

In other news, Tristen ate his first Twinkie that day.

A little bird house in your soul

Tristen wanted to build a birdhouse, and three hours later, here it is -- composed entirely of scraps and complete with a homemade bird feeder (a pine cone rolled in peanut butter and bird seed) and a little pencil sketch of a bird taped to the front, "so the birds will know what it is."

Catapult

We try to make sure Tristen has "independent time" every day. Here's what he came up with a couple of weeks ago: a catapult made of a kitchen spoon, ribbon, tape, and paper.

Proof

Grandma sent money for ice cream. Here's how Tristen used it!

First day of first grade

Day 1 report: "First grade stinks."
Day 2: "I wish I was still in kindergarten so I could have Crystal."
Day 3: Makes homemade crayon for new teacher.

First sleep over

Tristen and Owen spent a week testing the mettle of their camp counselors, and then they had a sleep over in Tristen's new bunk bed.

Legos: the quietest I've ever seen these two together. They MADE those things by themselves!

Then they argued over who had to sleep in the top bunk, ate dinner, and started arguing over who GOT to sleep in the top bunk. Very fun!

Bunk beds

Finally found the bunk beds I was looking for on Craig's List. Let the wild rumpus and sleepovers begin!
